Hello and welcome to WiSH – The Writer’s Secret Helper.
My name is Dr Karen Ette and I am a copy-editor and proofreader who also undertakes development editing work. I am happy to act as a mentor/writing coach to help you through the writing process.
I have written both fiction and non-fiction for a number of years and you can see my work on the publications page.
After completing my PhD at Loughborough University I decided that editing and proofreading was the path to take and subsequently enrolled on various training courses with The Publishing Training Centre, Liminal Pages and Louise Harnby.
I then qualified to be a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and have progressed to professional membership. You can see my full list of qualifications on the qualifications page.
For ten years I was a judge on the BBC’s 500 Words writing competition.
Although my research was, and still is, World War I and its literature, cricket is my passion and I can always be found at Grace Road in Leicester whenever there is a home match. I follow the Foxes and often attend away matches too.
I am a chaplain with the Centre for Faith and Spirituality at Loughborough University and an accredited bereavement counsellor.
I write two blogs: www.battlefieldsandbeyond.com and www.fancypanscafe.com
