Have you a manuscript or short story that needs polishing for sending to an agent, a publisher, or to self-publish? Perhaps a thesis or dissertation reaching the submission deadline, website content or magazine article that needs attention? Then let me help you.

My name is Dr Karen Ette and I am The Writer’s Secret Helper (WiSH Editorial). Based in Leicestershire in the East Midlands and close to Loughborough University, I am a professional member of the Chartered Institute for Editors and Proofreaders (CIEP) and have both a PhD and an MA in English and creative writing. I am also a PTC trained freelance copy-editor and proofreader and have trained in development editing, manuscript critique and editorial reporting. I can help you to not only write and develop your work, but also to edit your manuscript, or academic work, whatever the intended publication.

Editing is all part of the writing process. It begins with the self-edit, which is essential and goes a long way towards fine-tuning your manuscript. A professional development editor followed by a copy-editor can make it even better, and take away the stress of self-editing. A proofreader can complete the final stage before publication. It’s the author’s name on the book’s cover, and the editor is the secret helper behind the manuscript. Whatever stage you need a little help with, I’m here for you – I’ve got your back.

As a published author I can also help you with your content. For example, you might have a blog post or article that you would like polished, cutting down and checked for typos and grammatical errors.

Please  Contact me  if you have any questions or need help with your writing.

I’m here to help.

I have worked with Karen, in her capacity as an editor, on a variety of books through my publishing company Goldcrest Books. My clients have all be very happy with how she has guided them and made improvements that have made such a difference to the finished manuscript. She always provides style sheets and comments, which make it easier for my proofreader to do her job too. Working with Karen is a pleasure and it is so good to find someone that can be on the same wavelength as me and my clients. Sarah Houldcroft, Goldcrest Books.
